Midland Handling Equipment Ltd. started in 1966 under the name Deacon Brothers as a subcontract installation firm to the material handling industry operating out of a unit in Desborough South Leicestershire. For 6 years the firm installed the equipment of local and national conveyor companies gaining vast experience of the intricacy of quality manufacturing and installation. In 1973 Midland Handling Equipment Ltd. was incorporated as a new manufacturing side to the business and with the purchase of rights & tooling for the Conveyorex overhead conveyor system, had there first product. The Conveyorex (now Trakmaster 152) conveyor system was already well established around the world but the quality of fabrication still had to be kept up.
In 1976 MHE bought a plot of land in Great Glen, Leicestershire with permission to build a factory. The factory was completed in December of 1977 and the firm moved in the following months. Over the next few years the factory was extended and 2nd offices added and remains the manufacturing facility of the company today.
The company enjoyed many good years and introduced new conveyor systems to add to their product range including belt conveyors, pallet gates and garment railing.
In 1994 the company introduced the first side track overhead conveyor in the guise of the 304 Envirotrak, this product became in very high demand due to it’s ability to work in clean and sterile environments.
